Counselling for Teens

I’ve been counselling youth (ages 15-19) over the last few years. Prior to that, I spent nearly a decade as a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach mentoring teens and even spent a season coaching the high school girls basketball team.  With that experience, I learned to be approachable and gained the ability to connect with teens.

I offer a safe space for teenagers to feel heard. Most teens feel alot better after getting things off their chest and having their feelings validated. I try to provide self awareness and may offer different perspectives to help alleviate stress.

I work with anxiety and depression. I help the teen understand their emotions and offer alternative ways to cope. I do this without any judgement and I always make sure they feel comfortable in the counselling process.

Counselling Process/ Confidentiality

While working with teens, the counsellor/teen relationship is kept confidential. The parent/guardian will receive general updates, without disclosing specific information from the counselling sessions.

Currently, the counselling sessions are hosted online through zoom. Oftentimes, the parent may join the teen in the first consultation to build comfort before the first session. The parent can also speak to the counsellor beforehand, if the teen chooses to attend the consultation without the parent.
