Frequently Asked Questions
Are you covered by benefits?
Yes, I am covered by most insurance providers such as Pacific Blue Cross, SunLife, GWL, etc. I do not direct bill, but I do offer a receipt after our appointment.
What if I can’t afford counselling/don’t have benefits?
I don’t want money to be a barrier for you to get the support that you need. If you don’t have benefits or struggling financially, please let me know and I will offer a sliding scale for counselling.
How often should I do counselling?
This is up to each person’s needs. Most people do counselling once a week at the beginning to build comfort and then move to bi weekly. Once you’re feeling stable or comfortable with the process, you can switch to once a month.
Is in person counselling better or online counselling?
I offer counselling in person in Maple Ridge and online as well. This is totally up to the person. Some prefer doing online sessions from the comfort of their home while others prefer the in person feel. Both methods of counselling have their benefits.
I don’t know what to talk about in counselling
This is a normal fear for people who first start counselling. This fear will soon go away as you build comfort in the counselling process. I will do my very best to make you feel comfortable in this process. The hardest part is taking the first step. I do offer a Free Consultation that can help you “break the ice” and build comfort before starting counselling.
